DUBLIN

grained

18:00-21:30
Entry 8€/5€ students.

Finding a grain of reality in today's popular view of conflicts and taking it with a grain of salt, Cannons & Muses presents a collection of work that shows the grainy reality behind the polished image reflecting from the mass media. Graciously hosted by The Back Loft artists space, grained includes the work of local and international artists working in a variety of media, presenting a perspective on historical and current conflicts as they reflect from the art and media of their epoch.

At 21:00 C&M is proud to feature a screening of B-239, a film taking its name form one of the formerly unapproved Derry Donegal border roads and is an exploration of the border locale as both visible and concealed. Looping back and forth across the teritory, the soundtrack features extracts from participants narrations ranging from WW2, through the Troubles, and current views from young people of the area.

B-239 (subtitled) North-55 production Borderland public art project November 2009. Filming by Jac Productions.

The C&M Dublin group is starting to work towards its goals.

In collaboration with GradCAM we are working on the opening events of the Cannons & Muses activities which are scheduled for September 2009.

An initial call for participation and collaboration has been sent to local artists, academics and art administrators, giving more details about the other activities planned (but not yet officially approved) for those joining in to this group.

Cannons & Muses Ireland got accepted to the Electric Picnic festival as part of the La Catedral Studios marquee. If you are interested in participating in the Cannons & Muses Think Tank, please contact us on the address below.
